Aiko is quite focused on her scent training. We have moved to working with distractions at the scent jar which helps build the dog’s duration and confidence in their ability to make decisions without trainer feedback. Once the dog exhibits the ability to work independently from the trainer, we can move forward with introducing their first decoy odor.

Aiko has been introduced to her first decoy and has begun learning to discriminate between the target low diabetic odor and the non-diabetic odor (check out the video)

Training Status Update: 7/1/22

Aiko has been introduced to the target odor.

She quickly moved through the intro to odor and pattern steps, and is now working on building her confidence and duration at the target odor.
