Training Status Update: 5/25/23

Congratulations TeamTampa…. Tampa came to us at ten months old from Guide Dogs for the Blind.  Many people at NICST worked hard with Tampa to ensure her success. Thank you to Payton, Katie, Camden, and the Smith Family.  You can already see the bond these two have created together.

Tampa is in her final phase of scent testing

Training Status Update: 4/1/23

Tampa is a fun little girl to work with. She offers a lot of behaviors which make shaping easy. We’ve begun working on pressure therapy, and she quickly gets the hang of it in just a few short sessions

Training Status Update: 3/31/23

 Tampa shows great enthusiasm for her scent work and enjoys the focus it allows her. She is persistent and independent with her nose work, however focused and interactive with the handler when she needs to be. She thinks scent work is a breeze, and can’t even be distracted by another dog watching her.

Training Status Update: 8/28/22

Tampa will be travelling to a puppy raiser to receive continued training and socialization to prepare her for formal training. Her raiser will begin working on imprinting her to the target odor, learning to retrieve supplies, and other foundation skills that Tampa will need once her scent training begins.
